Death
is something that comes to us all. It is not something to be feared,
but recognized for what it is.

"Many
people are discovering creative approaches to ritualize and honor
those who are challenged with some form of disease or illness. I
hope this book inspires others to accept death and dying as part
of a powerful and courageous process."

"My
goal when photographing people is to make the style transparent
- not overcoming the form being photographed. I didn't know what
to expect when initially photographing Larisa. How could I lead
a young woman who is the midst of the dying process through such
a dance? I simply followed her leadrecording an amazing source
of energy."
