Judith Reynolds, art critic for the Durango Herald, will present a slide lecture on the meaning and history of humanistic art in our culture. Diana McKenna, Director, Mission and Spiritual Care, and Cathy Roberts, Human Resources Director, both at Mercy Medical Center will lead a discussion that celebrates the power and wisdom of everyday rituals. Louise Edwards, Naturopathic Doctor, and local artists will offer a book-making workshop combining the written word, and art materials, and the creative process to craft personal autobiographies. Also, in association with the exhibit, local artists will design and build a sculptural pool of water in the gallery. The water sculpture represents a source of vital energy and renewal for our community. This audience participatory piece invites viewers to write an inspirational thought on a river rock and place it in the pool, to join with others in creating a community statement of hope and renewal.
